Plagiarism Policy
The Editorial Team of Journal Information of Technology (JIfoTech) recognizes that plagiarism is unacceptable and therefore, establishes the following policy stating specific actions (penalties) if plagiarism is identified in an article submitted for publication in Journal Information of Technology (JIfoTech).
Definition:
Plagiarism is an intentional or unintentional act of obtaining or attempting to obtain credit or value for a scientific work, by citing part or all of the work and/or scientific work of another party which is recognized as his/her scientific work, without stating the source properly and adequately.
For that, then:
Articles must be original, unpublished, and not in the process of waiting for publication elsewhere. Material taken verbally from other sources needs to be clearly identified so that it is different from the original text.
If plagiarism is identified, then, the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for reviewing the article and will approve the action according to the level of plagiarism detected, with the following guidelines:
Level of Plagiarism
- Minor
If the screened article plagiarizes part of a short sentence from another article without citing the source. Action: The author is given a warning and a request to make improvements, change the text and cite correctly.
- Severe
Plagiarizing most of another article without proper citation and not citing the source. Action: The submitted article is rejected for publication in the Journal of Information of Technology (JIfoTech) and the Author may be sanctioned to not be allowed to publish in the Journal of Information of Technology (JIfoTech).
All article authors are responsible for the content of the articles they submit because they all sign the Journal Information of Technology (JIfoTech) Publication Ethics Statement Form. If the article is classified as plagiarized, then all authors will be subject to the same action.
If the Author is proven to have submitted a manuscript to the Journal Information of Technology (JIfoTech) while simultaneously submitting it to another Journal, and this overlap is found during the reviewer process or after publication, then action will be taken according to the severe point above.
If plagiarism is found outside the rules above, the editor of the Journal Information of Technology (JIfoTech) has the right to impose sanctions according to the editorial team's policy.
To check the plagiarism of manuscripts submitted to the Journal Information of Technology using the Plagiarism Checker and Turnitin applications.
